TEYLA TEASHOP

Set among the tea estates of Idukki, Kerala, Teyla takes its cues directly from context — the estate's landscape shaping how the built form opens outward. Mud plaster and foundation stone were sourced from site, and local cuisine and tea varieties carry the same rootedness into the café menu. Sloped roofs, a courtyard, and fenestrations follow the region's local architecture, while ISMB sections frame the structure and support the roof, opening up a sense of scale within the space. Built on a cliff with limited buildable area, part of Teyla projects off the edge, propped on stilts running down the slope — turning a site constraint into the project's most distinct architectural move.
