Amitha Madan is the principal architect and founder of Treelight Design, with over twenty years of experience spanning hospitality, commercial, and residential projects. Her love for the discipline was founded through practice - in the daily, hands-on resolution of space. It was here, in her early years working in interiors, that her design philosophy first took shape: to design for experience.
This instinct has stayed with her since - of placing oneself inside the client's world, perceiving a space not as an outsider, but as someone who might actually live inside it.
Amitha's background in the performing arts informed this sensibility further. Years spent observing how bodies move, gesture, and hold space on stage gave her an intimate understanding on how people relate to one another and to their surroundings. That sense of the body as a vessel for storytelling would, in time, translate into a deeply spatial way of seeing the world.
Earlier still, came a simpler beginning - a childhood memory of looking skyward, watching sunlight scatter through the canopy of trees. That early, unnamed fascination with light, shadow, and the quiet mysteries of the natural world would eventually find its way into her practice and pursuit of the unknown - the origin of Treelight taking root, back to that very moment.
Discovery continues to define her work - to seek change and evolve. Travel remains a key aspect to her process, where the base instinct is to employ multiple ways of seeing - with no fixation on the 'right' approach. To Amitha, design is a moving point of inquiry - worth returning to repeatedly.

Every project at Treelight begins with the act of listening - to context, to site, to stimuli. From there, a careful understanding of the brief and location shapes how we plan. We explore materials early, alongside a culture of in-house innovation that accentuates geometries and material behaviour. The resulting spatial interactions stay with people - moments turned to memorable experiences.
This attentiveness comes from the belief that longevity is earned organically, through the emotional intelligence of a structure. At every scale, whether it's a resort or apartment community - intimacy of experience is always considered.

Treelight, at its core, is a collective effort. Throughout the process, we pass through multiple hands and stakeholders, each essential to the whole. Capacity is demonstrated, tested, and expanded through the work in itself, and our studio is organised to let that happen - an ever-evolving practice, seeking forth.
